I started with printing tabs of Misfits songs and other songs that I enjoyed, but I didn't really get a feel for those songs and I lost interest and stopped. Then I started practicing bass with my dad(he has a drumset and has played all his life) And after weeks of jam sessions where I'd just make sounds and him drumming away, I reached my first step.<br /><br />I couldn't figure out why what I was playing wasn't sounding right. Either the next note was too high, or it was too low, or it just sounded awkward. So I began researching.<br /><br />After checking out a few sites on bass instruction I found one I liked. From it I learned the fundamentals of a bass guitar and its purpose in music.<br /><br />I knew the bass was a support instrument, but not what KIND of support it was supposed to offer. I also learned about basic musical phrases and themes and etc....<br /><br />The bass was designed around 50 years ago to create balance in the overall music of a song. It gives the song rhythm and timing. It creates harmonies and enhances the other instruments. It is very versatile and really interesting to me.<br /><br />Adding bass sounds to give songs structure can be either simple or something more complex.
